I found Wealthy Affiliate by chance in 2018 when I needed a website for my translation and teaching business. I was just researching hosting at the time, but when I learned that Wealthy Affiliate could also teach me how to build my own website, I signed up for a free account. Soon, it became clear that membership would pay off in many other ways in the future. Now, in 2025, I still have my original website and I’m building a new business to help other people start their own home-based businesses.
This new website, Home Business Haven, is built on the Wealthy Affiliate platform. I’m designing it to give advice to new business owners, while also providing all the information about Wealthy Affiliate and other tools that people can use to their advantage.
What Wealthy Affiliate Offers
Wealthy Affiliate has been around since 2005, helping millions of people learn to create, manage, and run online businesses. They have been updating the content and creating new tools to keep up with the fast-paced world of online business, and now, members have more support than ever before.
As soon as you sign up for a Starter account, you’ll have access to the Core Training: six lessons with Kyle Loudoun, one of the co-founders.

You’ll learn how to choose a niche (an area of expertise) and how making money online really works. At the end of the six lessons, you will have built a real, functioning website with hosting and site support included!
After finishing the first phase of the Core Training, suppose you decide to join the premium tier. In that case, you’ll get access to everything: the remaining 3 phases of the Core Training plus hundreds of courses and video lessons about content creation, WordPress, and, of course, affiliate marketing strategies. You’ll also be able to use the writing platform and the image and logo creation tools to make your website look polished and professional.
Here’s a summary of what Wealthy Affiliate offers:

The Founders: The Story Behind Wealthy Affiliate
The availability of the founders was crucial for me when I signed up: when I found out that they were online, interacting with the community, I was more motivated to join. Wealthy Affiliate was founded 20 years ago by Kyle and Carson, two people who built their own affiliate businesses first, made them work, then put together a platform to help others do the same. Now, they still run the company, and they’re still active inside the community, sharing tips and updates in real time. If you’re inside WA, you can actually reach out to them directly with questions. This open and accessible approach makes all members feel a lot more welcome and supported.
Getting Started: What’s in Store for New Subscribers?
In this article, I cover what you can expect when you start a new affiliate marketing website. The first thing you’ll do is decide on your niche, which is the sector or area of expertise you’ll be writing about. Make a list of your hobbies and your favorite things, and ask your friends and family for input if you can’t decide. They can tell you what always comes up in conversations. Go with the topic that makes you the happiest. A good niche is a topic that you never get tired of. You’ll be writing about it, doing research on new aspects of it, and with a little perseverance, you’ll help other people discover things they need to know.
Learning to use the platform will be another part of your new career as a self-employed business owner. Here’s a list of some of the tools you’ll be using and where you can find them on the WA homepage, including more information about the Core Training, which I mentioned previously:
- Niche Finder: on the homepage, you can enter different topics in the search box and it will suggest different angles that your blog could take.
- Core Training: a button in the left sidebar goes to the courses you need to set up your first website. There are four phases: Getting Started, Your Brand & Content, Growth & Momentum, and Making Money & Scaling. The first phase is included with your Starter membership, and this is where you learn the basics of affiliate marketing.
- WA Affiliate Program: also found in the left sidebar, this button takes you to a comprehensive overview of the affiliate program that you automatically get access to.
- DsgnPop: listed in the “AI Tools” section of the left sidebar, this platform leverages AI to help you design distinctive logos and images for your website.
- Jaxxy Research: this is Wealthy Affiliate’s SEO tool, also under “AI Tools”, to help you find the right keywords to drive organic traffic to your website.
Training: All Courses on the Same Membership Tier
This is an important point: when Starter members upgrade to Premium Plus, they have access to absolutely everything on the platform. There are no exclusive courses or high-priced “inner circles”. However, there is a lot to choose from. After completing the Core Training, you can decide what to learn next.
One of the more popular video lessons is Affiliate Bootcamp. This 15-week course provides an in-depth explanation of promoting Wealthy Affiliate and the “make money online niche”. (Hint: that’s what this blog is about.) If you can’t come up with a niche that thrills you, maybe try this one out. The commissions are good because Wealthy Affiliate uses lifetime cookies.

We’ve all heard of cookies: those little pieces of code that every website wants to place on our computers for a variety of reasons. The WA affiliate program gives members up to 50% commission on all new member signups (recurring monthly/annual payments) that last as long as the referral remains on the platform.
Affiliate Program Opportunities for Other Niches
Let’s say you’re passionate about something else. Instead of the Affiliate Bootcamp, you’ll complete the Core Training and build a website to promote products or services that are useful to people interested in your area of expertise. Wealthy Affiliate has built an affiliate program search engine right into the platform, giving you direct access to thousands of networks and companies and saving you hours of work.
So, you can do these things with your membership:
- Easily pick affiliate programs from inside Wealthy Affiliate.
- Track your relationships, applications, and links in one place.
- Special acceptance deals with major networks for Wealthy Affiliate users.

The Community: Support, Networking, and Mentorship
This is one of the biggest assets in Wealthy Affiliate. The website comes with a Live Chat in the right sidebar, so it’s easy to ask questions or just say “hi” to everyone. At any given time, you’ll find seasoned veterans and complete newbies online.
The website contains specialized areas that focus on different topics, such as building YouTube channels and SEO strategies. Direct messaging lets members connect with each other.
We also have challenges and group projects to keep us motivated, and each member can publish their own blog posts to document their journey and share their thoughts.

How to Get the Most Out of Wealthy Affiliate
Learning a new system is a big part of the process, so you should set aside as much time as you can to learn to use the platform and write. The key to success is taking action.
- Start with the Core Training and do each task as you go. When you’re getting started don’t skip around. Then pick the courses you want to do and learn what you need to know.
- Get involved in the community: learn the rules, ask questions, help others where you can, and build connections.
- Treat it like a business, not a hobby. You need to be in this for the long haul. So build that website. Write posts. Keep track of your numbers and expect your hard work to pay off!
